In order to properly tune the car with any changes I’m making I’ve elected to add an AEM 30-0300 Wideband 02 sensor to the setup since I’m installing exhaust next anyway.

The 30-0300 has a nifty trick up it’s sleeve for HP-Tuners users where with some custom firmware it can show up in the CAN bus parameter area of HP Tuners, making it very easy (and accurate) to log. Other options include 0-5v input which needs calibration or, as I’ll be doing until I get firmware updated, serial connection to the laptop.

How much did that set you back? And what are you installing it on and how?

I was looking into getting one so I could get tuned properly, but now I think I’m just going to do a basic tune and get the wideband done later when I get bored and want even more power.

~$220 - http://www.amazon.com/AEM-30-0300-Wi… - Installing it in the X pipe of the new exhaust I’m putting on the corvette. They all come with a bung you weld in, and get easily get plugs for so you don’t have to leave the sensor in all the time. I wouldn’t tune (even just headers/exhaust as I’m doing right now) without one personally.

Pre-cat or post-cat? I’m just thinking it looks like I can’t put it in front of the cats and get a reading on both cylinder banks. Does that matter?

Pre-cat. Likely you’re tuning software isn’t going to let you adjust bank to bank etc (if you’ve got a MoTec ignore this lol) so one bank actually works well assuming no mechanical issues between the banks.

The guy that’ll be doing it uses HPTuners, so it looks like I’m good there. Still, that’s a fair amount of coin. Fuck our Canadian Dollar.

I guess I’ll snout around and see if I can snag a deal. Thanks!

If you’re taking it to a guy are you sure he isn’t going to use a tailpipe 02 setup? (They’re sort of rubish for anything other than full throttle tuning but anyway). Most pro’s don’t expect you to have a wideband and if what you’re asking for requires installation of a bung so they can put one not in the tailpipe many will include that in the cost. Others either claim not to need one (YMMV / Close enough with STFT) etc etc. Talk to your tuner if you’re not doing it yourself is generally what I’m saying.

He’s kind of semi-pro. He prefers to tune with a wideband sensor, he will tune with or without, he can get a dyno rental if the customer wants a full dyno tune and so on. He does know my vehicle inside and out though, he specializes in Colorados and Canyons since he owns one and he’s got a good reputation.
